Maksim Kirov is a mobster who gets what he wants, both at his posh gentleman’s club in Hell’s Kitchen and in the bedroom. Sexy, dangerous, and obsessed with control, he’s risen through the ranks to become a highly respected leader in the tight-knit Tarasov crime syndicate. He rules with an iron fist…until he meets Sydney Martin.

The Australian-born Sydney is determined to refuse Maks’s advances, despite their electrifying chemistry. The owner of a neighboring nightclub, Sydney rules her own domain. But when a deal with a Mexican drug cartel goes terribly wrong, she has no choice but to turn to Maksim and the Tarasov organization for protection. Could giving in to their intense attraction be what saves both Maks and Sydney? Or will their all-consuming passion—and her shocking secret—destroy their lives?

In the hot and scandalous third installment of the Wanted Men series, lust and loyalty clash in New York’s mob underworld.

Ok, lets start with the obvious-I love mafia books!! Seriously, they are one of my favorite book tropes these days! Nancy Haviland does a great job with the genre too. I liked Sydney a great deal and I didn’t expect that. She is VERY independent but once you get a peek in her world you realize its because she had to be, not because she wanted to be independent. I respect that a lot! In books, we tout the heroines who are strong and independent and thats great; but its just as nice to occasionally see a heroine who can admit that she needs someone to take control for her. I think that a lot of authors couldn’t pull this off as well as Ms. Haviland did because you run the risk of the heroine seeming weak/useless/etc. That is not the case with Sydney. I loved Andrew too-such a great kid!!

Maks was not a character I liked in the previous books. He is a man whore and I HATE the man whores. It seems so common in books today but it is one thing that really just turns me off to books. But, because I enjoyed books 1 and 2 so much, I read this one and I am glad. Yes, Maks is a man whore and, at times, a major douche canoe. However, once he set his sights on Sydney, that was it for him. I’m glad this was multiple POV because you really needed to understand Maks thought process to really ‘get him’.

The pacing of the book felt off at times. There were parts that seemed to drag, then parts that went so fast I felt something was missing. It didn’t affect the overall story, but it did make the book easy for me to put down at times.
