Review: All Played Out

Title: All Played Out (Rusk University #3)

Author: Cora Carmack

Genre: New Adult

First person in her family to go to college? CHECK.
Straight A’s? CHECK.
On track to graduate early? CHECK.
Social life? …..yeah, about that….

With just a few weeks until she graduates, Antonella DeLuca’s beginning to worry that maybe she hasn’t had the full college experience. (Okay… Scratch that. She knows she hasn’t had the full college experience).

So Nell does what a smart, dedicated girl like herself does best. She makes a “to do” list of normal college activities.

Item #1? Hook up with a jock.

Rusk University wide receiver Mateo Torres practically wrote the playbook for normal college living. When he’s not on the field, he excels at partying, girls, and more partying. As long as he keeps things light and easy, it’s impossible to get hurt… again. But something about the quiet, shy, sexy-as-hell Nell gets under his skin, and when he learns about her list, he makes it his mission to help her complete it.

Torres is the definition of confident (And sexy. And wild), and he opens up a side of Nell that she’s never known. But as they begin to check off each crazy, exciting, normal item, Nell finds that her frivolous list leads to something more serious than she bargained for. And while Torres is used to taking risks on the field, he has to decide if he’s willing to take the chance when it’s more than just a game.

Together they will have to decide if what they have is just part of the experiment or a chance at something real.

In the spirit of the book, I shall make a list 🙂

#1. Nell is AWESOME! She is so academically focused that she has missed out on some of the social aspects of life. And, until recently, she has been okay with that. I love that she was this closed off, focused girl because that was something I could relate to! Going to college and have no social skills? Been there, done that, got the T shirt! So, its nice to read about a character that I felt I truly could understand. And, she is just plain awesome. She doesn’t hide who or what she is and while she is embarrassed at her lack of social ability at times, she tackles it all as best she can and its beautiful.

#2. Mateo has the best name ever. I just want to throw that out first since it has always been one of my favorite names. His character is probably at the top of my book boyfriend list now. He is funny, charming, easy going, and caring. He pushes Nell but only so far as she wants to be pushed. He cares about her-not just getting things done on her list, but about making sure she is comfortable with the things on her list and making sure she enjoys crossing things off (and yes, some of them are pretty sexy-but not in a smutty way!).

#3. Can we just talk about the cover for a second? Its by far my favorite book cover for any of Cora Carmack’s books. The models are exactly what I picture Nell and Teo to look like.

I didn’t like that the book had to end. Seriously, I was not ready for it to be over. I am in major book hangover right now and its NOT pretty…
