Happy #TBT, Disciples! If you didn’t already know this about me, I am a special education teacher. My freshmen students have to choose a book (any book they want) and present it to the class in some creative way. Their teacher does this for a simple reason-by high school, kids seem to have lost the love of reading. They never read for fun any more. So, she has them pick a book of their choice and present it in a way of their choice. And I look forward to this assignment every year. This year, when glancing at the list of all the books chosen, I saw that someone was reading Crescendo (book 2) and I remembered how much I loved this series. This lead to a 15 minute discussion about the best books with some of the students in the class (sorry, Ms. M-D, we got your class a bit off task there!) So, since that reminded me, here is one of my favorite books in the Young Adult Paranormal genre for our throwback Thursday! (And, thanks to the super awesome teacher who has the kids read for fun!)
Title: Hush, Hush (#1), Crescendo (#2), Silence (#3), and Finale (#4)
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal
Nora, our heroine, finds herself in the middle of an ancient war. She also finds Patch, the handsome stranger who is certainly hiding something. Then he becomes her guardian angel…and then distances himself! Enter the old friend from the past, Scott. And all this happens while Nora is trying to figure out the secrets of her own past! Nora has to make a lot of choices; chose wrong and she could die. There are many evils in her world that won’t hesitate to kill her. Will Patch save her? Will Scott? Can Nora get her happily ever after?
Becca Fitzpatrick has a beautiful way of writing. It sucks you in. I loved the characters (Nora and Patch for sure, but even the minor characters were dynamic enough to evoke feelings!). The story is a nice twist on the fallen angel genre and there are some interesting twists thrown in that keep you guessing. The series is the perfect combination of romance, suspense, and supernatural. You won’t want to stop reading because you simply HAVE to know what happens next. I started the series back when only 2 books were released; having to wait for books 3 and 4 nearly killed me! I am NOT kidding, people. So, you will want to make sure you have all 4 books ready, and just have yourself a reading binge!
So, what are you waiting for? This is a 5 star series for sure!
