In honor of throwback Thursday, I will share a book I read in the past that is still one of my favorites!

Title: The Princess Bride

Author: William Goldman

Genre: Adventure/Romance

Rating: 5 stars

What its about:

Ok, most of you know the story because you have seen the movie. Buttercup, the most beautiful woman in the land, falls in love with a poor farm boy, Wesley. He goes off to sea and gets killed by the Dread Pirate Roberts. Buttercup is then forced to wed the Prince (a real jerk!). Wesley returns, having not been killed by pirates, but hides his identity from Buttercup. Throw in a drunk Spaniard, a giant who loves rhymes, and a mad man who wants to help start a war and you have a beautiful story that will stick with you!

What I loved:

The book is so much funnier than the movie (and the movie is pretty darn funny!). There are additional characters and descriptions that are so beautiful. This book expanded so much on the movie that it was like getting more from what was already my favorite movie. This was one of the rare times I saw the movie first, then realized it was a book, then read the book. It didn’t matter-both are amazing. If you haven’t read the book, what are you waiting for?

So, why should you read it?

1. Its funny! There is so much humor throughout the book in so many different ways. There is the ironic humor, the jokes, the character interactions, that are all funny in smart, unique ways.

2. Wove, twue Wove. At its heart, its a story about true love. Buttercup and Wesley are broken people who find their love again after their time apart and its beautiful. Seriously, Wesley is the ultimate book boyfriend!

3. Amazing places! The pit of despair, the fire swamp, the cliffs of insanity! The books has some cool locales.
