Review: Salvation and Secrets

Title: Salvation and Secrets (Chastity Falls #2)

Author: L.A. Cotton

Genre: New Adult

Rating: 5 stars

What its about:

The story continues where book 1 left off-Ana is broken over Jackson leaving her for his ‘family’ and the mob business. Jackson isn’t doing much better. He eventually makes the choice that he loves her more than the business and is willing to risk the danger of leaving the mob in order to be with her. But, nothing worth having comes easy, right?

What I loved:

Okay, anyone who knows me at all, or has followed this blog at all knows I love mob related stories. I don’t know what it is, but if it involves a young mobster, I LOVE it. Second, these characters are well written and you can understand their feelings better than most new adult characters. Neither of them is perfect, their reactions to situations are realistic, and they don’t dwell on things for an unnecessarily long time (sometimes I think new adult characters cling to this one event in their past and it becomes the CENTER of the story; that doesn’t happen here and its great!). Also, the book doesn’t prattle unnecessarily. The author doesn’t wax poetic about how beautiful Ana is or how hot Jackson is-she works in details about the characters and the setting in a way that isn’t annoying and I appreciate that.

What I didn’t love:

While the cliffhanger in this book wasn’t as gut wrenching as it was in book 1, I am still NOT okay with waiting for the next book. I’m not good at the patience thing…

If you like…

Fallen Crest High by Tijan, Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles, The Eagle Elite series by Rachel Van Dyken

This book isn’t for everybody-if you like the new adult, angsty genre, then this is a GREAT book. I know this genre isn’t for everyone but if you are good with new adult, this is a wonderful series that will really give you a look at how new adult should be done!

Perhaps I should do a post about my fav mob related books? There are so many I want to share…so, if you like this type of book, keep your eyes out for a post!
