Review: Kennedy in Denver

Title: Kennedy in Denver

Author: R. Colora

Genre: Romance

Heat-o-Meter: R

Rating: C+

Kennedy Brennan was just about to start her life after graduating from the Barton Music Conservatory, She and her 3 best friends decide to have one last night out before the graduation ceremony the next morning. Accepting drinks from a secret admirer brings her life to a screeching halt. After waking up from a coma and facing her attacker during a trial she changes her identity and starts a new life in Denver. Finding an old run down building across the street from her favorite bakery she plans to start a Music Conservatory of her own. The only thing standing in her way is Billionaire Real Estate Developer and One of America’s Most Eligible Bachelors Easton Kerrigan.

Kennedy and Easton’s Story is the beginning of a 6 book Series involving The Kerrigan Siblings and Friends.

This book is filled with really likable characters. I loved Easton and Kennedy’s families! Also, this book is like a drama and angst filled soap opera! I loved it! It certainly keeps you turning the page to find out what happens next!

The pacing of the book felt off to me. There were times things would happen so quickly and weren’t really described well. I found myself flipping back to see if I skipped something. Also, throughout the book Kennedy (and eventually some other characters) discuss having conversations and encounters with dead friends/loved ones. This might be really annoying/unrealistic to some readers since these conversations with the dead guide a lot of Kennedy’s actions. I, however, wasn’t really bothered by it but I wanted to mention it since some people will roll their eyes and find it very unrealistic.

Sometimes love can turn ugly.

Sometimes love can hurt.

Sometimes the best thing to do is escape!

Leaving everything behind Izzy Parker escaped the hell that had been her life. Driving as far west as she could, to get away from her evil past she ended up in Washington State.

Izzy’s new life is turned upside down when she meets her Harley-riding neighbor Braxton Ryles.

Larger than life Braxton is a biker with a mouth to go with it. Owning his own shop, he controls most things in his life. Living and loving hard, the only thing that means anything to him is his daughter Eve. Upon hearing they had a new neighbor move in, his curiosity gets the better of him when his daughter won’t stop talking about their new neighbor.

The instant their eyes meet, chemistry takes over and ignites into an inferno of lust. His sense of humor and her blushing tendencies seem to sizzle whenever they are together. The only problem is they both have troubled pasts, evil ex’s that want to rip their new found happiness apart.

One-ex wants revenge; the other seeks vengeance.

What happens when their new found love collides with the ones who threaten to take it all away?

Can love survive? Or will their pasts burn their dreams of a future to ashes?

Love will be tested, hearts will break, and the horrors of the past will reveal a secret Izzy is desperate to keep hidden.

My Review:

Heat-o-meter: R with some NC-17

Rating: C+

This book started off good for me. I liked the suspense and there were characters that I wanted to reach into my kindle and kill myself! I actually think its great when an author writes a villain I feel that strongly about. But, this book did contain one of my deal breakers: cheating. If that isn’t a deal breaker for you, you will probably really enjoy this book. Honestly, it is a small event in the grand scheme of the book but I just couldn’t like the hero after that. I also lost some respect for the heroine for how easily she forgave him.

But, if an indiscretion isn’t a deal breaker for you, this book is one you should certainly pick up!!

He leans into me, his lips barely touching mine. I am yearning to feel the softness of them as he teases me with a slow lick of his lower lip. My eyes are entranced. His wet, velvety tongue glistens as if inviting me in. I’m visibly shaken as every ounce of my body feels like it’s now lit on fire. Braxton is intoxicating.

Review: Pretty Boy and an Interview with M. Kay Fox!

Blog Tour
Pretty Boy
M. Kay Fox
July 6th – July 16th
Such a pretty boy.
Kip Klein has heard this for a
very long time. Apparently that was all he was ever good at anyway. His own
mother despised him for looking like his deceased father. It forced him from
his small hometown to the big city of Chicago.
Lights. Camera. Action.
Welcomed with open arms into the
career of modeling, Kip finds himself doing anything to keep his name and image
out there including showing off his assets for the ladies. Losing his edge, Kip
is sent home to Hawker Flats to rediscover just what made him rough. He
discovers much more than past memories.
The latest Summer fling.
Could her life get any harder?
Summer Sadler is orphaned, a guardian to her half-brother and working every
waking hour she can. On the verge of bankruptcy, she is duped and used for the
land that she owns. Was it too much to hope that the torture would end?
Just one more kiss.
Summer didn’t expect to collide
with Kip Klein, but collide she did. The rigid muscles and tantalizing voice
chase away all reason to keep her distance. Maybe one kiss will cure
everything. Maybe one kiss will destroy them both.
Heat-o-meter: R (This book is promoted as an Erotic Romance but I thought it was fairly tame and y’all know I don’t usually read erotica!)
Rating: B-
This book is a cute, short read that you can finish in 1 sitting.Ok, the prologue starts off with a bang and I was like “where the heck is this going!?!”. I liked Kip and Summer. My only real complaint is the book is a novella that I wanted to be a novel. It all felt rushed and at times I though maybe I had skipped a page by accident. So, if you are looking for a quick read with good romance, this is perfect! If you are looking for deeper characters and drama, this might not be your thing!

M. Kay Fox Bio:

write and it was a dream full-filled. She thinks that everyone should take a
risk and do something unexpected.
A farmer’s daughter born in the
Midwest, M. Kay grew up inspired by the written word. Loving academics, she
received her bachelor’s degree in agri-business and went on to get her master’s
degree in business administration. The sky is the limit!

Author Interview

1. What inspired Pretty Boy? How did you come up with the idea and these characters?
>>A couple of reader friends and I were talking about male models and how they have become so popular in the industry (especially Indie) and I started to wonder if they were forced to do things that maybe they wouldn’t like so much just to keep their following. I don’t think the idea is as far fetched as it seemed at first. I think most of our fears are being forgotten when you are on top.2. Do you have any rituals when writings (do you have to listen to music, or be in a certain chair, etc)
>>No rituals so much, although this is my first book. I always sit down with a stack of scratch paper, a drink, and a snack. I’m not that superstitious, I guess.

3. Do you ‘map out’ a story before writing or do you just go with it?
>>I just started writing. I really had no idea where it was going. I knew what Kip wanted to say, but beyond that it was mad typing and then major editing.

4. What books do you have coming up that we should keep an eye out for?
>>I haven’t planned any further books, honestly. A few readers have asked for more of Summer and Kip. A couple suggestions to me were to use other male models or some of his friends from the book. We shall see. You’ll be just as surprised as me!

5. What is your favorite genre to read? Who are some of your one-click authors?
>>I am totally enthralled with S.E. Hall and Angela Graham. I read just about everything. My favorite genre is romance and anything remotely sticking to it, I’ll read it.

6. How do you choose a title? How do you choose your character names? Do you try to avoid naming them after people you know?
>>Pretty Boy as a title came easily. I thought about how lots of people think models are just pretty faces and that they really have nothing else to offer. As it coems to character names, I chose Summer for her comparison to the season. She’s beautiful, but really hard to know. Sometimes she can just be too hot to hold. As far as the others, I try really hard not to rhyme. That isn’t as easy as you think it might be 🙂

7. Ok this is a question I call ‘favorites’. Just tell us your favorite of each of these things:

a. Color >>Blue
b. Food >>Chinese
c. TV show >>Rookie Blue
d. Movie >>The Other Woman
e. Book >>Handled by S.E. Hall and Angela Graham
f. Author >>A.C. Wilson, Shevawn Michelle, and Sara Zook
g. PC or Mac >>PC
h. Coke or Pepsi >>Pepsi but really Mt. Dew

Title: Crusher (Savage Brothers MC #4)

I see her. I see her clearer than anyone ever has—even her best friend.
There are secrets in those beautiful, brown eyes. Secrets that have broken her.
She reminds me of someone else. Someone I loved. Someone I was unable to save.
I won’t fail with her.
I want to claim her as my own and take away the ghosts that leave her haunted.

Little girl lost…
The woman I once was is gone. All that remained of her, were broken pieces lying ravaged and scattered by a storm.
I tried to piece her back together, to sift through the wreckage and re-create her.
It was impossible. She was too damaged. She died.
From her ashes I arose.
Untouchable, unfeeling, unworthy–the new me is not quite, right.
I don’t even like me. Why would he?
One man destroyed me. Why would I ever claim another?

Two damaged souls—
One trying to re-live the past, one trying to forget it.
Can they heal each other?

Crusher ecover

“Seems like I’m always chasing you Hell Cat. One of these days, I may just get tired of that.”

“No one asked you to, Crusher. I think you just can’t take a hint.”

“I can baby, I absolutely can.”

“Then why are you still here?”

“Because your lips might be saying no, but your body is saying something completely different.”

“I think you’re delusional, Zander.”

He moves closer to me and I feel like I don’t have control of my own body when he gets this close. I do my best to calm my heart and betray nothing of what he really does. It’s not easy. Especially when his body pushes against my ass and I can feel his hard erection brush against me. A minute later the heat of his breath fans my bare shoulders.

His hands loosely hold my hips, while I try to look out over the crowd in the bar. Inside my brain is screaming danger, because that’s what Crusher is. He is danger with a capital ‘D.’ A second later his gruff voice dances against my ear.

“That right there is what I mean. When those thick, beautiful fucking lips of yours say my name, all I can think about is you whispering it against my cock, right before I grab your hair, plunge inside and fuck your mouth like it’s meant to be fucked.”

His words flow down my spine and they lodge deep. If I close my eyes, I can see him doing that same thing and me…the woman who has hated sex…the woman who uses it only as a way to feel powerful over a man…suddenly craves being weak with a man. What the fuck is he doing to me? Can he feel how my heart kicks up a notch? The way my breath catches? Shit is he looking over my shoulder and noticing how hard my nipples are right now?

“You have a strange fascination with my mouth,” I tried to make that sound bored. I failed.

My body feels like it’s on the edge of a cliff and I’m scared to death of what will happen if I jump. Zander is not safe. I can’t control Zander. I’ve made so many bad decision what happens if he is just another one? I’m leaving soon. Would it be stupid to give in just once before I go? I’ve never wanted a man before Zander. Never. What happens if I pretend just once I am a normal woman without a fucked up head, without a past that is going to get me killed someday? What happens if I give in just…once?

“Hell Cat you have no idea, but I could show you baby. I could show you a hundred different ways and I’d make damn sure you enjoy every…fucking…one…”

Jordan is a small town Kentucky girl whose life revolves around her husband and daughter. She’s an avid reader who has always had the dream of letting others hear what the voices inside of her head had to say. She hopes you find them as entertaining as she does

The Song That Epitomizes Deacon
by Cheryl Douglas
If I had to choose one song that epitomizes my book, Deacon, it would be “Ride” by Chase Rice.
The first time I heard this song I thought of my characters, Deacon and Mia. It epitomizes how sexy and sensual their relationship is. I wish I could have used this song in my book trailer. It would have been perfect. Still, every time I hear this song I turn it up loud and scenes from my book play out in my head.
Check out the lyrics and tell me this song is not smokin’ hot!
Take off those heels, lay on my bed
Whisper dirty secrets while I’m pulling on your hair
Poison in our veins but we don’t even care
Candles dripping on your body, baby this ain’t truth or dare
Everybody wonders where we run off to
My body on your body baby sticking like some glue
Naughty, let’s get naughty girl, it’s only one or two
The fever’s running, feel the heat between us too
I’m gon’ ride, I’m gon’ ride, I’m gon’ ride
I’m gon’ ride on you baby, on you lady all night, all night
I’mma take care of your body, I’ll be gentle, don’t you scream
It’s getting hotter, make it softer, feel your chest on top of me
I’m gon’ ride, I’m gon’ ride, I’m gon’ ride
I’m gon’ ride on you baby, on you lady all night, all night
I’m gon’ make you feel that loving, getting weak all in your knees
Kiss your body from the tip top all the way down to your feet
Yeah girl, we can go slow
Yeah, we can go slow
Lay on your back, like you right there
Don’t have to say it twice, love, there’s nothing here to fear
Taking it back, back to where it’s clear
Rolling on and on, sounds of loving in the air
Ooh ooh
Ooh ooh oh
The sun’s coming up, you’re on my side
I rub your thigh, you look in my eyes
And I just see the sky, I’m so high
And I ain’t smoked yet, I’m just coming down from it
I’m gon’ ride, I’m gon’ ride, I’m gon’ ride
I’m gon’ ride on you baby, on you lady all night, all night
I’mma take care of your body, I’ll be gentle, don’t you scream
It’s getting hotter, make it softer, feel your chest on top of me
I’m gon’ ride, I’m gon’ ride, I’m gon’ ride
I’m gon’ ride on you baby, on you lady all night, all night
I’m gon’ make you feel that loving, getting weak all in your knees
Kiss your body from the tip top all the way down to your feet
Ooh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh

When one door closes, another one opens. I closed the door to my business for the last time in 2011, which left me with a decision. What now? Find another location and move my nutrition business, go to work for someone else, or take a chance on my dream? I chose the latter and I’ve never looked back!
I’ve always loved reading and writing, but it wasn’t until I jumped in with both feet and decided writing would be my career, instead of just a hobby, that my muse woke up from her deep slumber. It was like someone flipped a switch inside my head and stories just came pouring out. At the end of the day, I would often look at the keyboard and wonder, ‘Who the heck wrote that? ‘Cause I’m pretty sure it wasn’t me!’
I don’t write books. I tell stories, or rather, I allow my characters to tell their stories through me. I’m not a plotter, never have been, never will be. Why? Because I have no idea how the story will evolve and it’s not my place to manipulate it. My job is to get to know these characters, figure out what makes them tick, then follow their journey wherever it takes me.
When I’m not writing, I’m daydreaming. Thankfully, I have an understanding husband and son who know I’ll re-join the land of the living just as soon as my muse decides it’s quitting time. I don’t work for myself. I work for her. She’s the boss. And I’m okay with that.

Author Bio:

I have a wonderful, supportive husband and three beautiful children. I enjoy spending time with all of them which normally involves some baseball, shooting hoops, taking walks, watching movies, and of course reading.

My passion for reading began at a very young age and only grew over time. Whether I was bringing home a book from the library, or sneaking one of my mom’s romance novels and reading by the light in the hallway when we were supposed to be sleeping, I always had a book.

I read several different genres and subgenres, but Paranormal Romance and Romantic Suspense have always been my favorites. I read anything by Katie Reus, Lora Leigh, J.R. Ward and Rebecca Zanetti.

I have always made up my own stories, and have just recently decided to start sharing them. I hope everyone enjoys reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
